?SINA Lazima Nipate is a team of six young refugees who are scholars at SINA. We have become young leaders and transformed our difficult past into the motivation to support other refugees in Uganda. Currently there are over 1,5 Million refugees in Uganda (a country of 40 Million people). The empowerment and community at SINA had the effect that we see our past as a strength rather than a subject of shame. We are now implementing the SINA model in Kampala, Uganda in a slum where urban refugees reside under difficult circumstances. This is “SINA Lazima Nipate” which means “I do not have but I must get” in Swahili. We are bringing the SINA model of youth empowerment to our local refuge communities by creating a unique self-learning space where young refugees unleash their potentials, create their own opportunities and develop their own passions into social businesses. They create their own jobs and contribute to society in Uganda.
